Protesters in eastern Paris attack police with a Molotov cocktail;

The Telegraph wrote that French protesters on Saturday, the ninth of Aban, marched in eastern Paris wearing Halloween costumes and, at Porte de Charenton, threw a Molotov cocktail at a line of riot police, set several officers on fire, and pushed the unit back. Dozens of people, with their faces covered, tore up the street paving stones and threw them at the police, and the police fired tear gas.

France’s Ministry of the Interior deployed 70,000 security officers and diverted the route of the Paris march to the outskirts of the city. Gérald Darmanin, the Interior Minister, called a portion of the protesters’ violence “exceptional” and blamed far-left extremist groups for the attack on security forces.

The Ministry of the Interior said the number of protesters was 15,000 by the afternoon and the number of arrests was 27, while student organizations and unions reported nearly 500,000 protesters across the country, including 200,000 in Paris.

On Saturday night, masked looters also broke shop windows and attacked the police in Berlin and Frankfurt.
