Jalal Ejadi, a sociologist, said, with reference to a fresh wave of protests and strikes in France, that increasing purchasing power and wages—including a 10 percent increase in the minimum wage—are among the main demands of protesters.

He said that labor and public-sector unions and left-wing forces support the protests, and the government should negotiate with representatives of workers and students to find a temporary solution.
