Badr al-Busaidi, Oman’s foreign minister, and Abbas Iraqchi, Iran’s foreign minister, in a telephone call, called for “practical arrangements” to ensure the safety of maritime routes and for joint technical mechanisms to guarantee the smooth flow of trade and energy.

The official Oman news agency reported on Thursday, 14 Aban, that the two ministers said that moving from the de-escalation phase toward lasting understandings is necessary.

According to the report, the purpose of these arrangements is “to end the state of war and prevent the recurrence of clashes” in the region.
