The Israeli army said that on Saturday, 31 Mordad, in an attack in the Deir al-Balah area, Sharf al-Hasanat, the commander of a company in the Deir al-Balah battalion from Hamas’s military wing, was killed.
According to the Israeli army’s announcement, al-Hasanat participated during the war in directing efforts to rebuild Hamas’s underground network, and in the recent period he also played a role in advancing attacks against Israeli army forces and citizens of this country.
The Israeli army said that al-Hasanat was an immediate threat to its forces and was targeted in order to remove this threat.
According to the statement, before the attack, steps were taken to reduce harm to civilians, including the use of precise munitions and aerial surveillance.
The Israeli army also announced that its forces, under the command of the Southern Command, remain deployed in the area in accordance with the agreement and will continue activities to eliminate any threat.
