Ismail Baghaei, the Spokesman of the Foreign Ministry of the Islamic Republic, told journalists: “The closure of the Strait of Hormuz is the result of the military actions of the United States and Israel against the Islamic Republic, and an agreement with Oman alone does not mean this waterway will be made safe, because the naval blockade and other U.S. actions against the Islamic Republic are still ongoing.”

Baghaei added that negotiations between Tehran and Muscat, as two coastal countries of the Strait of Hormuz, have continued over the past two months with the aim of determining a safe route for the passage of commercial vessels through this waterway, and its “technical, legal, security, and environmental” aspects have been assessed.

He said that the geographical coordinates of the route agreed upon by the two sides have been set, and if third parties do not create obstacles, a joint statement by the Islamic Republic and Oman is also planned to be reviewed and finalized in the final stage.

Baghaei, regarding the possibility of Mohammad-Baqer Qalibaf or Abbas Araqchi traveling to Pakistan or Qatar, also said there is no program for such trips, but the Islamic Republic is in contact and consultations with Pakistan and Qatar, which are trying to reduce tensions.
