Ismail Baghaei, Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic, in response to remarks by one of the officials of the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Foreign Affairs about Tehran’s role in encouraging the Houthis to attack this country, rejected any involvement by the Islamic Republic in the military operations of the Houthis.

Baghaei said in an interview with reporters on Friday, 24 Mehr: “Yemen’s armed forces act based on their own interests and assessments.”

He added that the Islamic Republic does not believe that escalating tensions would benefit any of the parties, and is prepared to help resolve disputes between Saudi Arabia and Yemen peacefully.

The spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic said that Tehran, if requested by the parties involved, is willing to use its capacities to end the fighting.

Baghaei also called for an end to foreign interference in Yemen and the end of the sea and air blockade of this country, and said that the experience of the past 12 years shows that military action and blockade cannot resolve the crisis in Yemen.
