🔸Iranian media reported on Saturday, 4 Mehr, based on a directive from the Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade of the Islamic Republic, that the ban on importing South Korean home appliances into the country has been lifted.
🔸Ali Khamenei, the former Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic, in 1400 (2021-2022) called for preventing the import of these products, and the government of Ebrahim Raisi also implemented it.
🔸In a letter from the Director-General of the Export and Import Regulations Office of Iran’s Trade Development Organization to customs, which Fars News Agency published, it is stated that the import of South Korean home appliances by “border dwellers” is no longer subject to limitations.
🔸This is while LG and Samsung—two well-known Korean brands—cut their business ties with Iran in 1397 (2018-2019) after the sanctions imposed by the first Donald Trump administration.
🔸Since that year, these two companies have refused to ship parts and raw materials to their Iranian manufacturers, and smugglers turned to the widespread smuggling of home appliance products into Iran.
🔸In recent years, the supply of these companies’ home appliances in some western border cities of Iran has been carried out informally and through smuggling.
