Morad Vaisi, senior analyst at Iran International, said: “The removal of Zulqadr and the replacement of him with Mohsen Rezaei is a sign of the intensification of power struggles between rival factions in the Islamic Republic. With the elimination of a large number of rivals, this dispute is now happening more than anywhere else within the ranks of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.”
