🔻Hakan Fidan met with Abbas Iraqi on reopening of the Strait of Hormuz
Hakan Fidan, Turkey’s foreign minister, on Monday, in a telephone call with Abbas Iraqchi, his Iranian counterpart, discussed efforts to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and ensure the continuation of a ceasefire between Iran and the United States.
A Turkish diplomatic source, in announcing this news, declined to provide further details.
Earlier, a senior Iranian official had told Reuters that Tehran has decided to change its policy from a defensive posture to “completely offensive” due to a deadlock in efforts to reach an agreement to permanently end the war with the United States.
According to the official, peace talks and efforts to resume oil tanker traffic from the strategic Strait of Hormuz have effectively come to a halt.
