🔻Hamas: Israel must be made to accept Gaza’s peace plan
Hamas has asked the peace delegation of Donald Trump, the U.S. president, to pressure Israel into accepting Gaza’s peace plan.
The peace plan is backed by the United States.
Hamas issued this statement after its leader Khalil al-Hayya met in a rare move in Egypt with Jared Kushner, Mr. Trump’s son-in-law.
Jared Kushner is expected to travel to Israel in the coming days to carry out further negotiations.
The Palestinian group said it has complied with the provisions of the first phase of this peace plan.
The first phase of the U.S. peace plan asks Israeli forces to withdraw from the area, and for Gaza to be rebuilt under a new civilian administration.
But Israel rejected the plan last week and said that before anything else, it wants the complete disarmament of Hamas.
Benjamin Netanyahu, the Israeli prime minister, has recently rejected Donald Trump’s 15-point plan for Gaza and said that Israel will not retreat from the strip in any way until Hamas is completely disarmed.
