🔶 Germany classified the attack on Berlin Pride Parade as terrorism
Alexander Deubrinnt, the interior minister of Germany, said on Sunday, July 26, near the site of the Saturday night attack on the “Pride Parade” in Berlin that all available evidence so far points to an Islamist terrorist attack.
He said the suspect of the attack had previously been flagged because of a large number of crimes, a process of radicalization, and connections to Islamist circles.
Deubrinnt said that 16 German states have also been informed of the details of the attack.
He added that state officials have been advised to review their security measures for major events, including upcoming Pride ceremonies.
Friedrich Merz, the German chancellor, also, in response to the attack, said that the goal of such attacks is only to create division in society. He emphasized that people should not be intimidated and that Germany, despite all political differences, will defend its freedoms.
Merz said that these attacks seek to split society.
He added: “Despite all political differences, we will defend our freedoms.”
