Gadi Eisenkot, Israel’s government-formation envoy, announced on Sunday, 17 Aban, at his country’s presidential residence that the war fronts remain open and that the war goals have not yet been achieved.

Emphasizing the urgency of the challenges facing Israel, he said that this country has no opportunity to waste time or hold repeated elections and that an emergency national unity government must be formed as quickly as possible.

Eisenkot, who received the mandate to form a government from Isaac Herzog, the President of Israel, said he will work to form an emergency national unity government and that he will soon invite all parties represented in the Knesset to participate in this process.

Referring to Israel’s security and political conditions, he stressed that current challenges are more urgent than can be afforded to be delayed, and that the formation of a new government must be carried out in the shortest time possible.

Eisenkot also listed recognizing Hamas as a “terrorist” organization and pledging to destroy the group’s governing capability as other conditions for parties to join the future government.
