From cutting meat to postponing marriage; the pressure of inflation on everyday life in Tehran

🔸 The economic website “Tegartnews” has calculated the misery index for Tir 1405 at 96%. This index is derived from the inflation rate and the unemployment rate published by the Statistical Organization.

🔸 Based on the report from Tegartnews, the province of Ilam, with a figure of 120.6%, ranked first, while Tehran, with an index of 83.5%, is at the bottom of the table.

🔸 The prices of items, both consumer and food, in Iran are affected by the dollar rate. At the same time, the ongoing war, the intensification of sanctions, and the dollar crossing the 200,000-toman threshold have brought Iranians a new experience of rising prices.

🔸 Some segments of society have begun to cut certain activities—and even essential items—from their lives. Several Tehran residents, in interviews with Radio Farda, speak about how they provide for their daily livelihood and about eliminating their long-term plans.
