Flights by Iranian companies to Georgia will be suspended starting September 21

🔸Flights by Iranian airlines that are subject to U.S. sanctions will be suspended in Georgia starting September 21 (September 30).

🔸According to the Georgia section of Radio Free Europe, the tourism company "Georgia Holiday," which focuses mainly on the market of Iranian tourists, has confirmed that Iranian airlines will carry out their last flights to Georgia on September 29.

🔸Radio Free Europe contacted Georgia’s Ministry of Economy to clarify the exact date of the flight suspension, but has not yet received a response.

🔸Based on the flight schedule, on Tuesday, September 24, the sanctioned airline "Warsh" will operate flights in Batumi, and flights by "Fly Kish" and "Warsh" will also run in Tbilisi.

🔸According to information published on the website of Tbilisi Airport, the Isfahan-to-Tbilisi flight has been canceled on Tuesday, although airport officials said the cancellation had been planned in advance.

🔸Also, after September 28, flights on the Tehran–Tbilisi route will no longer be reservable on the website of the airline "Sepehran."

🔸According to information from Tehran airport, flights from Iran are still being carried out to the destinations of Oman, Turkey, Armenia, the United Arab Emirates, Iraq, the Republic of Azerbaijan, Tajikistan, China, and Thailand.

🔸So far, none of these countries has published any announcement about suspending flights by Iranian airlines.

🔸On September 17, the U.S. Department of the Treasury announced it has sanctioned all remaining Iranian air carriers that had not yet been covered by sanctions. These sanctions include 27 Iranian airlines.

🔸A U.S. Treasury Department official also told reporters: "We are removing the entire aviation sector of Iran’s economy from the market."

🔸Two days after these sanctions were imposed, Georgia’s civil aviation agency said that the country will act in the area of sanctions implementation "in full compliance with the international sanctions regime" and will also take into account the sanctions mechanisms imposed by the European Union and the United States.
