Financial Times, citing informed sources, reported that Asim Munir, the Pakistan army commander, has repeatedly asked officials of the Islamic Republic to make efforts to stop the Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia and its energy infrastructure.

As the newspaper wrote, Pakistani officials have told Tehran that if Saudi Arabia makes a formal request under the Islamic Pact of Mecca, Islamabad may be forced to take action to defend the country.

A diplomat also told Financial Times that Saudi Arabia has been trying to win support from regional countries, but apparently these efforts have not worked. According to him, in the current situation neither Riyadh nor the Houthis have any desire to negotiate.
