🔺European Parliament calls for following Trump’s approach in securing critical minerals

▪ Members of the European Parliament called for the EU to take a stake in critical minerals projects using a method that the United States has adopted.

▪ The Financial Times reported that lawmakers have voted to form an institution that, if needed, would take a stake in mineral companies “to ensure the security of the Union’s supply,” build European reserves, and monitor supply across the Union.

▪ The Trump administration has borne heavy costs to build its own supply chain and has purchased shares in producers of rare elements. Last summer, the U.S. Department of Defense bought 15% of the shares of the American company MP Materials with a $400 million investment and also provided a $150 million loan.
