Egypt’s Damietta port authorities announced that the port’s activities continue despite the fire that occurred on Wednesday.

The managing authority of the Damietta port said in a statement: “The Damietta Port Authority confirms that the port is still enjoying full operational efficiency and that all terminals and quays are seeing the orderly arrival and departure of ships.”

The statement also added: “Loading, unloading, and the handling and movement of various types of cargo are still ongoing.”

On Wednesday, the 7th of Mordad, explosions occurred at the Damietta port, one of Egypt’s natural gas loading hubs along the Mediterranean coast, and the British maritime security company Ambrey reported that an American vessel was targeted by a drone attack.

The New York Times, quoting two informed sources of the Islamic Republic, implicitly blamed the Islamic Republic of Iran for the drone attack on Egypt and added that the attack was designed to demonstrate the Islamic Republic’s capabilities.
