Efrvan Qanei-Fard, an analyst of Middle East issues, said that Prince Reza Pahlavi’s remarks about the certainty of the fall of the Islamic Republic emphasize the linkage of three factors: the erosion of the regime’s repressive capacity, the collapse of political legitimacy, and a break in the cohesion of the government’s command structure.

He added that weakening the Islamic Republic’s military capability alone does not guarantee a change of government, and that the link between external pressure, domestic action, and the existence of a trusted political alternative can determine the course of transition.
