Donald Trump, the U.S. president, on Saturday reposted a post by Mark Thiessen, a Fox News analyst and a Washington Post columnist, on Truth Social. Thiessen had written: “We have escorted more than a thousand ships through the Strait of Hormuz.”

Earlier, the New York Post reported that the United States has “helped” more than a thousand ships to pass through the Strait of Hormuz since May and has guided the ships to use a route near the coasts of Oman.

However, according to prior reports by CNN, the operation was not necessarily an “escort” in the conventional military sense and, at least in its initial stages, involved more guiding the ships along a safe route.
