Donald Trump, the President of the United States, said the Hamas disarmament agreement is an essential step toward transferring control of the Gaza Strip to a new Palestinian state.

Hours earlier, The Times of Israel, citing a diplomatic source, reported that Cairo talks between Hamas and the mediators regarding the disarmament of the group were “making progress.”

According to this source, under the proposed roadmap, all weapons would be removed from service and the administration of Gaza would be handed over in stages to a Palestinian technocrat government.

He emphasized that there would be no exceptions for any weapons or individuals, and that all tunnels, weapons depots, and weapons-production facilities would also be dismantled.

The source added that after the full implementation of the plan, all weapons would be placed under the control of the Palestinian technocrat government, with support from an international security force.

At the same time, the Palestinian network Al-Yawm reported that it is expected that the second-phase ceasefire agreement for Gaza will be announced on the eighth of Mordad.

Earlier, on Tir 15, Hamas announced the official dissolution of its government in Gaza in a statement and said it is ready to transfer power to a group of Palestinian technocrats.
