In its latest report, the Ministry of Cooperatives, Labour and Social Welfare has announced that the “gap in higher education” has widened, and that public universities have gradually turned into a space reserved for affluent groups, rather than a platform for social mobility.

According to this report, out of more than 500,000 students at public universities, the share of the three lowest-income deciles has fallen to less than 5.6%, while nearly 60% of the capacity of these universities is in the hands of the three highest-income deciles.
