🔻Donald Trump rejects Iran’s proposal for rapid reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.
The U.S. president told reporters: «I reject their proposal. They are being defeated badly and that is why they want an agreement for the immediate reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.»
Mr. Trump once again repeated that the United States has full control of the Strait of Hormuz and is on the verge of achieving a major victory.
The U.S. president added that he, like Iranian officials, is also interested in an agreement, but emphasized that Iran’s proposal was «unacceptable».
Earlier, The Wall Street Journal also reported, citing U.S. officials, without naming them, that Donald Trump rejected Iran’s ceasefire proposal and expects U.S. airstrikes to resume after this country’s midterm elections.
Iranian officials have said that they offered a proposal to the United States under which Tehran would reopen the Strait of Hormuz within seven days in exchange for meeting certain conditions.
