🔸The documentary “Second Breath,” produced by Majgan Eylanloo, a documentary filmmaker and women’s rights activist, was shown on Thursday evening, 9 Mehr, at Charles University in Prague.
🔸In this 53-minute documentary, which took six years to make, it addresses structural violence against women in Iran and the role of laws, political power, religious views, and cultural traditions in perpetuating it.
🔸Eylanloo, who in recent years has been detained and imprisoned due to her civil activities and her support for the “Woman, Life, Freedom” movement, has incorporated part of her personal experience into the documentary’s narrative.
🔸She says that “Woman, Life, Freedom” was “a second breath” for the equality-seeking movement and civil resistance in Iran.
🔸Mehран Karimі, a reporter for Radio Farda, after the screening of “Second Breath,” spoke with Majgan Eylanloo about this film, violence against women, her experience in prison, and her view of the developments in Iran in recent years.
