The American magazine The New Yorker revealed that during a secret meeting between Jared Kushner, Trump’s son-in-law, and Mohammed bin Salman, the Saudi Crown Prince, they discussed a plan to remove Muhammad bin Nayef, his cousin, from the position of crown prince in 2017.

The report, citing a former regional intelligence official, says that Kushner informed bin Salman that everyone in the U.S. government, except the intelligence services, supports him.

The message was seen as a green light from Washington to bin Salman to take action against Muhammad bin Nayef.
