🔸A construction project for a commercial center in the vicinity of Golestan Palace and the historical area of Oudlajan—which had been halted in Aban 1404 by order of the Minister of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts—has resumed its activities.
🔸Images showing the activity of a crane belonging to the “Middle East Gold Market” project in the vicinity of Golestan Palace were shared on social media on Tuesday, 27 Mordad.
🔸By publishing images recorded by Behnam Saber Namat, a journalist, “Mehrath Khabar” wrote: “Excavators and a crane (tower) are back, and they are driving their claws into land that is the only registered UNESCO World Heritage site in Tehran within the vicinity of Golestan Palace.”
🔸Excavation for two projects, the “Middle East Gold Market” and the “Mervi Center,” in the vicinity of Golestan Palace and opposite Shams-ol-Emareh had been stopped in Aban 1404 after experts’ objections, by order of Reza Salehi Amiri, the Minister of Cultural Heritage.
🔸After issuing the order to stop these two construction projects, Salehi Amiri said that a special committee would be formed, chaired by the Deputy for Cultural Heritage, to investigate the matter of the news, and added: “Members of the Ministry’s Strategic Council and other relevant managers will make decisions on this matter.”
