China announced that a two-month extension of the commercial truce with the United States would give both sides the opportunity to assess the implementation of their agreements and decide on the next steps.

According to Reuters, the Chinese Ministry of Commerce, confirming the extension of the truce until 20 Dey, said the decision would provide a “relatively stable and predictable policy environment” for companies to cooperate.

The extension of the truce was one of the main achievements of the second meeting this year between Xi Jinping, the President of China, and Donald Trump, the President of the United States, held in Washington last week.

Based on the ministry’s statement, the first steps within the framework of a Trade Council that the two sides agreed to establish will include discussions on the mutual reduction of tariffs on $30 billion worth of goods. The economic teams of the two countries will also have regular talks about opportunities and obstacles to investment.
