Cats awaken in people a desire to care for them because of their childlike faces, Doctor of Biological Sciences Pavel Borodin said.

"Floppy ears or a round face attract people not because they are objectively more beautiful, but because they resemble children's features. Such traits make people want to care for the animal and trigger the same mechanisms as when interacting with children," the scientist stressed.
