The bodies of five members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) who had been killed in joint attacks by the United States and Saudi Arabia on positions of armed groups supported by the Islamic Republic entered Iran from the Mehran border.
According to Iranian media outlets, these individuals were killed in an airstrike on August 7 (7 Mordad) targeting positions of groups supported by the Islamic Republic in Iraq’s Diyala Province. The Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) had also announced that at least 20 members of the group were killed and 32 others were injured in these attacks.
Media close to the government have identified the five IRGC members as “Morteza Akbari, Ali Asghar Astaneh, Abolfazl Motaghi, Amir Abbas Dehramfurosh, and Mohammad Amin Rostami Jalilayan.” The first four individuals are said to be from Khomein and Kashan respectively, and Rostami Jalilayan is said to be from Kermanshah Province.
