Behrooz Kamalvandi, spokesperson of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization, said Tehran, in the current conditions, has enough options to defend itself and, regardless of the level of pressure, has the will to overcome the existing situation.

Kamalvandi said on Friday, 27 Shahrivar, in an interview with CGTN, on the sidelines of the 70th General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency in Vienna: “Beyond these options, we have the will; a strong will to defend our country.”

Regarding the Strait of Hormuz, he said the Islamic Republic is trying to control the situation and ensure security for this route, and that at present the number of ships entering this strait or leaving it is “single-digit.”

Kamalvandi also said that Austria had issued a visa about two weeks earlier for Mohammad Eslami, head of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization, but then revoked it “under pressure from the Americans.” He called for other countries to respond to this matter.
