🔻From July 28 to 30, Bahrain—amid regional tensions between Iran and the United States—will host a joint military exercise with countries in the Persian Gulf region.

The military drill is being held at a time when relations among the Persian Gulf states, especially Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, with Pakistan are expanding and becoming closer. A Kuwait-based analytical think tank has described the exercise as a “political and military message” to Iran.

The Bahrain Armed Forces said in a statement that the three-day joint exercise “Shield of Bahrain,” with the participation of Gulf Cooperation Council countries, is currently underway.

According to the Bahrain Armed Forces, the aim of the exercise is to strengthen joint military cooperation among GCC member states, facilitate the exchange of experiences, and assess the level of readiness and the effectiveness of operations.

Several media outlets in the Gulf region have said the exercise carries military and political messages for Iran.
