Axios reported that by creating a shipping corridor under U.S. protection, the amount of oil transiting through the Strait of Hormuz has doubled. Omid Shakri, an energy market analyst and a senior researcher at George Mason University, said that if this trend continues and reputable shipping companies confirm it, the supply of oil from Arab countries to the market will increase, and the global oil price could fall from around $94 to $80 or even lower.
He added that the United States has the military capability needed to maintain this route, but continuing these operations will have significant costs for Washington. Shakri also said that insecurity in the Strait of Hormuz could still increase the cost of transporting oil, and the economy of the Islamic Republic will be more affected than others by the continuation of this situation.
