🔸Two senior military officials of the Islamic Republic have once again emphasized a change in Iran’s military doctrine from a “defensive” posture to an “offensive” one, saying that Tehran may carry out pre-emptive attacks against potential threats.
🔸Mohammad Akraminia, the spokesperson of Iran’s Army, in an interview with IRNA, described Iran’s attack on the U.S. base in Jordan as an example of this approach, saying that Iranian forces targeted the base before the United States entered another phase of the war.
🔸In Iran’s missile and drone attacks on a U.S. base in Jordan on July 17, three U.S. servicemen were killed.
🔸At the same time, Yahiya Rahim Safavi, the assistant and senior adviser to the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic, in a statement on the occasion of “Defense Industry Day,” also said that Iran’s response to any threat would not be “passive” and could be carried out in a “pre-emptive” manner.
🔸According to the Army spokesperson, the offensive doctrine also means that any military action against Iran will be answered “immediately,” and this response could be broader than the initial attack.
