🔻Atefeh Ramazanzadeh and Fatemeh Pasandeh, two former players of Iran’s women’s national football team, who refused to sing the Islamic Republic anthem during the Asian Champions Cup competitions, have officially received Australian citizenship.

🔹These two athletes, on Wednesday, received their certificates of citizenship in a ceremony in the city of Brisbane, in the presence of Tony Burke, Australia’s Minister of Home Affairs. Following threats to their lives and security from the Islamic Republic, the two players had refused to return to Iran and had applied for a humanitarian visa.

🔹Atefeh Ramazanzadeh, by posting a message on her Instagram page, wrote: “This citizenship is more than a certificate; it is a symbol of hope, security, and an opportunity to build a new future. I will always carry my roots with me, and I will always be grateful for this fresh start.”

🔹Fatemeh Pasandeh also wrote in a similar message: “I will never forget my roots; I will always strive to keep Iran’s name alive with pride, and to not forget those who lost their lives or who are still in prison. Today, with a heart full of hope, to the future”
