Andy Burnham, the prime minister of the United Kingdom, said on Wednesday, 8 Mehr, that there are "strong indications" that the Islamic Republic played a role in a suspected plot against the RAF Fairford airbase in western England; a base that American bombers have used in recent months to carry out missions against Iran.
He added that the case is still a police investigation that is "complex and serious" and that the UK is cooperating closely with the United States.
On Sunday, 5 Mehr, five British men, 26 years old and residents of London, were detained on suspicion of committing terrorist crimes and offenses involving explosives near the airbase and were then released on bail. The Islamic Republic had firmly rejected any involvement in the incident on Monday, 6 Mehr.
Following these arrests, Donald Trump, the U.S. president, said that the men intended to cause "major damage," and Marco Rubio, the U.S. secretary of state, had also referred to the role of "a foreign actor."
