Amir Hamidi, a national security expert, said that Donald Trump’s remarks about the likelihood of the continuation of military actions should be seen within the framework of “diplomacy with pressure”; an approach in which the path of negotiations remains open, but the military option, economic pressure, and deterrence are not taken off the table.
Hamidi added that Washington and Tehran still have fundamental disagreements on issues such as the Strait of Hormuz, economic pressure, the nuclear program, supervision, and the order of implementation of commitments. According to him, there are now two paths ahead: a feasible agreement or an increased risk of escalation of the conflict.
