Amir Giti, a member of the editorial board of Iran International, said that despite the review, Donald Trump still wants to give diplomacy another chance regarding a military option against the Islamic Republic. By referring to Trump’s phone call with Benjamin Netanyahu, he added that some sources close to Trump have described the call as explicit and difficult.

Giti, while pointing to Marco Rubio’s tough stances, emphasized that Washington’s main aim is to resolve the Islamic Republic’s nuclear issue. According to him, continuing the negotiations does not necessarily mean shelving military action, and if Tehran does not reach an agreement with the United States over its nuclear program, Trump will move toward the military option.
