Ali Hossein Ghazi-Zadeh, a member of the Iran International editorial board, in reference to Donald Trump’s statements about reaching an agreement to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, said these remarks are not an indication that a definitive agreement is close, and the negative reaction of the oil market also confirms this.

According to him, the main disagreement remains over how the Strait of Hormuz would return to its previous status and the possibility of controlling the passage of oil tankers; an issue which, if it comes with the creation of obstacles, slowing the passage process, or collecting fees, could again push the United States and the Islamic Republic toward confrontation and even war.
