A U.S. Navy P-8 Poseidon maritime patrol aircraft approaches a U.S. Air Force KC-135 Stratotanker tanker aircraft while patrolling in the Middle East to carry out an aerial refueling operation. The P-8 Poseidon is a specialized reconnaissance aircraft used, among a range of U.S. equipment and systems, to monitor the waters of the region as part of the U.S. naval blockade against Iran. As of July 30, U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) has diverted the routes of 24 commercial vessels, halted the movement of two ships, and inspected two vessels to ensure full enforcement of the blockade regulations.
