🔻A Lebanese army soldier and three civilians were injured in an Israeli attack on south Lebanon

The Lebanese army says that in an Israeli attack on Nabatiyeh al-Fawqa in the south of the country, a soldier was seriously injured and three civilians were also harmed.

Lebanon’s official news agency reports that an Israeli drone targeted Nabatiyeh al-Fawqa; an area that, despite a ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah in recent weeks, has been hit several times by Israeli attacks.

The Israeli army has not yet commented on the attack.

The attack comes as the implementation of an agreement reached in June between Lebanon and Israel with U.S. mediation has been stalled. The agreement includes Hezbollah’s disarmament, the gradual withdrawal of Israeli forces from south Lebanon, and the deployment of the Lebanese army in the area.

In July, the Lebanese army deployed in two pilot areas, but the implementation of the agreement has made little progress since then. Nawaf Salam, Lebanon’s prime minister, also called on Wednesday—during a meeting with Marco Rubio, the U.S. secretary of state—for further implementation of this agreement.

Hezbollah continues to refuse to give up its weapons, and Israel continues to carry out attacks in Lebanon despite the agreement, while still controlling parts of the south of the country.
