🔻A Bola, citing Gonzalo Almeida, a lawyer and judge of the FIFA football court, reported that after Cristiano Ronaldo left the training camp of the Portugal national team, he has been automatically and temporarily suspended from the team, and his case will be examined by the disciplinary committee of the Portuguese Football Federation.
🔹Based on Article 160 of the disciplinary regulations of the Portuguese Football Federation, a player who leaves the national team camp, training, or a match without valid reason faces a ban ranging from one to six months, and for professional players, a fine of between 510 and 1,020 euros.
🔹Almeida said: “I don’t see a way for him not to be punished.” He added that Ronaldo is currently under suspension due to leaving the camp, and the disciplinary committee will decide after receiving his explanations regarding the case.
🔹However, Ronaldo’s full and unconditional admission of leaving the camp could halve his punishment. Under Article 244, in these circumstances, the minimum ban of one month can be reduced to 15 days, and the 510-euro fine can also be lowered to 255 euros.
🔹Almeida also emphasized that the absence of any disciplinary record, Ronaldo’s more than 20 years with the national team, and his services to Portuguese football could be mitigating factors. In contrast, his role as captain could be considered an aggravating factor.
🔹According to Almeida, the duration of the current automatic suspension will be deducted from the final ban, and for this reason there is a possibility that Ronaldo will be available for the next window of national team matches. He also predicted that the handling of Ronaldo’s case will be carried out with great speed.
