Mohammad Movahed, Deputy Chairman of the Parliament Commission on Article 90, in response to the remarks by Scott Bessent, U.S. Treasury Secretary, about the “economic removal” operation against the Islamic Republic, said that the United States has moved beyond “traditional sanctions” and entered a phase of “operational encirclement.”

Speaking to the House of Parliament website, he said: “The fundamental difference between sanctions and economic removal is that America no longer limits itself to not doing business with Iran; rather, with an encirclement-oriented approach, it seeks to prevent any country in the world from entering into interaction with the Islamic Republic of Iran.”

The lawmaker added that Washington, with the aim of targeting the region’s commercial and transit hubs, including Turkey, the UAE, and Oman, is seeking to block the Islamic Republic’s “vital arteries of communication and finance” and turn regional countries into tools for implementing the policy of “maximum pressure.”
