Yisrael Katz, Israel’s defense minister, said the Al-Tahir mountain range in southern Lebanon is part of the “Yellow Line” and that the Israeli army will maintain control of the area. He said: “Whoever gets close to it will be destroyed.”
According to Israel’s Channel 12, the position was announced after Israel’s army withdrew from the mountain range in Al-Tahir over the past 24 hours, following the destruction of Hezbollah’s underground tunnel complex there, and deployed its forces along the “Yellow Line.” Israeli forces are still stationed in the Beaufort area.
Based on the report, the Israeli army has continued its attacks in Al-Tahir and the surrounding villages to prevent Hezbollah forces from returning to these areas. At the same time, coordination is underway with the Lebanese government to examine the deployment of Lebanese army forces in the areas that have been cleared.
Channel 12 added that the Israeli army is assessing reducing the number of its forces in Lebanon and transferring part of its army brigades to the West Bank, but no final decision has yet been made on the matter.
