🔶 Grossi: Not knowing about Iran’s nuclear materials is a matter of serious concern
Rafael Grossi, Director-General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, said at the seventieth General Conference of the Agency in Vienna that lack of awareness about the status of Iran’s uranium reserves is a matter of serious concern.
He said on Monday, 23 Shahrivar (14 September) at this meeting that the Agency’s monitoring of Iran’s nuclear program in 2026 is deteriorating and that, aside from an inspection of the Bushehr nuclear power plant in June, the Agency has not carried out any verification activity in this country for more than six months.
Grossi said that the lack of information about previously declared nuclear materials and the lack of access to facilities to verify them are issues that cause serious concern about the proliferation of nuclear weapons, and that they “must be addressed with the utmost urgency.”
The Director-General of the International Atomic Energy Agency described a return to diplomacy and negotiations as “essential,” and said: “The Agency is ready to support such efforts.”
