🔶 Concern over the imminent execution of Alireza Sepahi in Isfahan

Mehdi Mahmoudian, a human rights activist, said that Alireza Sepahi—a prisoner sentenced to death—was transferred from the general ward of Handesgard Prison in Isfahan to an individual cell, and warned about the possibility of his death sentence being carried out soon.

Alireza Sepahi, born in 1380, was arrested on 20 Dey in 1404 in connection with the nationwide protests and the “Alikhani Square Isfahan case,” and was then transferred to Handesgard Prison in Isfahan. Before being taken to the site for his death sentence, he suffered a stroke and was taken to a hospital, but after medical care he was returned to Handesgard Prison.

The matter began with a protest gathering in the area around Alikhani Square in Shahrak-e Malekshahr, Isfahan, which led to a severe clash between protesters and government forces. During the clashes, four officers of the Law Enforcement Force and the Special Unit were killed. No independent and fully verifiable account is available regarding the exact details of how the clashes started and who was responsible for them.
