CBS’s latest report on details of the rescue operation of an American pilot on Iranian soil

🔸 The American news network CBS, in a fresh report aired on Sunday, 22 Shahrivar, unveiled the details of an operation to locate and rescue an American pilot at the heart of Iran’s territory. The report also includes an interview with the pilot himself.

🔸 CBS, in its report, says that during the rescue operation of the weapons officer of an American F-15 fighter jet in the month of Farvardin this year, amid the Israel-U.S. war with Iran, U.S. Army bombers and drones targeted the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps forces near the hiding place of the pilot in order to open the rescue route.

🔸 The report, which aired on Sunday in the well-known program “60 Minutes,” cites newly declassified images and interviews with senior commanders of the U.S. Army and the rescue officer. According to military sources, in the hours leading up to the rescue of this American force, Iranian forces had even advanced to within a few hundred meters of the officer’s place of hiding.

🔸 Erik Kurk (Brade Cooper), commander of CENTCOM, said that more than 90 American servicemen on Iranian soil, several hundred people in the air, and several thousand people in the support section participated in the rescue operation. According to him, the mission of the F-15 fighter jet, before it was shot down, was to attack industrial facilities related to Iran’s missile and drone program in southern Isfahan.

🔸 The weapons officer of this fighter jet, with the mission codename “Bravo,” in his first public account said that the Iranian man-portable missile also damaged his parachute. When he hit the ground, his waist, arm, and shoulder were broken. Despite these injuries, he managed to reach a ridge line at an altitude of about 2,100 meters and was finally rescued about 50 hours after the shootdown.
