🔻The dress Princess Diana wore at a banquet and became known as the “revenge” dress is being auctioned.

The former Princess of Wales wore the black silk, off-the-shoulder evening gown at a party in London—held just a few hours after her husband, Prince Charles, who at the time had separated from her, admitted to having an affair during their time together.

Her enthusiastic, headline-making arrival in the dress at the “Serpentine Gallery” in 1994 turned into one of the enduring moments in popular culture.

Auction house Sotheby’s has predicted that the gown will sell for up to $300,000 when it goes on auction on December 9.

Morgan Halimi, global head of handbags and fashion at Sotheby’s, said in a statement that Princess Diana “instinctively understood” that fashion could be a language in itself.
