🔸Iran’s judiciary announced on Monday, 23 Shahrivar, that in the past months it has seized 240 cases of assets and property belonging to Iranian citizens and blocked 182 bank accounts belonging to them.

🔸Mizan News Agency, affiliated with the judiciary, wrote on Monday that 143 of the seized asset cases are in Tehran and that some of the seized assets belong to journalists from networks such as Iran International and Manoto, as well as other Persian-language media, and “prominent figures” living abroad.

🔸In its report, Mizan stated the reason for this asset seizure using charges such as “treason against the homeland” and “selling out the homeland,” and did not provide any evidence related to this category of accusations.

🔸The action was carried out while, under Iran’s criminal laws, there is no independent charge with such titles, and these terms are non-judicial descriptions. Under the presumption of innocence as well, individuals whose cases are still under review should not be considered or presented as criminals before a final ruling is issued.

🔸The news agency did not clarify in how many cases a final ruling for confiscation has been issued and in how many cases assets have only been seized temporarily.
