World Lion Day 🦁 Symbol of the Shared Courage of Iran and Israel. For the people of Iran, Israel is more than a magnificent animal. The lion is part of our identity, our history, and our spirit. For thousands of years, the lion has appeared in the stories of the Israelite people. From “Lion of Judah,” which was the symbol of the tribe of Judah and the power of King David, to flags and historical symbols that displayed this people’s courage and steadfastness. In Jewish tradition, the lion is not just an animal, but the embodiment of an unbreakable spirit that stands tall even on the hardest days. This symbol also has ancient roots in Iran’s ancient civilizations. From the prominent reliefs of the Achaemenids to old legends, the lion has always been a symbol of authority, heroism, and light. Later, this symbol, in the form of “Lion and Sun,” became one of Iran’s best-known national emblems. And this is where the connecting link is formed: The authentic peoples of Iran and Israel rise with spirits as strong as the lion. Both nations have been tested many times throughout history, but each time they have risen again like the lion—neither out of fear nor with surrender, but with the same pride that only a lion knows.
