With 12 days to Israel’s election, the race to determine the country’s next prime minister has tightened. Benjamin Netanyahu is competing with two main rivals, Gadi Eisenkot and Naftali Bennett, to stay in power.
Based on a survey by Israel’s Channel 11, Netanyahu’s bloc has 53 seats, while his opponents have 50—both short of the 61-seat majority needed to form a government.
In an election in which dozens of parties compete to enter the Knesset, winning depends not only on winning the most seats. The political future of Netanyahu and his rivals will be determined by their ability to form a coalition with at least 61 seats.
