🔺Vance: Iran’s Islamic Republic must reduce enrichment capacity “meaningfully”
▪The deputy U.S. president said Iran’s Islamic Republic must “meaningfully” reduce its nuclear enrichment capacity in order to meet Washington’s demands and end the seven-month war between the two countries.
▪In an exclusive interview with Reuters, JD Vance added that it is not clear who makes decisions in Tehran and it is also unclear how much authority President Pezeshkian and Iraqi and Shi have.
▪JD Vance said any agreement requires a real reduction in enrichment capacity, not assurances about a reduction in the future.
▪He said: “If you don’t want nuclear weapons, why do you need fuel enriched to 60%? And if you want to demonstrate your commitment to not building nuclear weapons, don’t make highly enriched fuel. This is a very basic threshold.”
